ZyO3™
Omega-3 fatty acids are important structural and functional components of human tissues. Among the long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids, EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are particularly well studied for their roles in cell membranes and lipid mediator pathways.¹,²
DHA is highly concentrated in neural and retinal membranes, where it contributes to membrane structure and function.²,³ EPA and DHA also participate in pathways involved in inflammatory signalling and resolution.⁴
ZyO3™ provides a concentrated source of EPA and DHA in a convenient softgel format. The product contains 360 mg EPA + 240 mg DHA per softgel, as declared on the current product pack.
Each softgel contains:
Allergen: Contains Fish.
ZyO3™ provides 360 mg EPA and 240 mg DHA per softgel, delivering a concentrated source of long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids.
EPA and DHA have been extensively studied for their relationship with cardiovascular outcomes and lipid metabolism. Evidence from randomized trials suggests that Omega-3 fatty acids can influence several cardiovascular outcomes, although effects vary according to formulation, dose and population.⁵
DHA is highly enriched in neuronal membranes and contributes to the structural and functional properties of the brain.²,⁶ Human supplementation studies, however, show that cognitive benefits are not uniform across all populations; therefore, ZyO3™ should be positioned as nutritional support for normal brain function, rather than as a cognitive treatment.⁶,⁷
DHA is a major structural lipid of retinal photoreceptor membranes and plays an important role in retinal structure and function.³
EPA and DHA influence inflammatory pathways and have been studied in people with inflammatory joint conditions. Meta-analyses of randomized trials have reported improvements in selected joint-related outcomes, although results should not be interpreted as treatment of arthritis.⁴,⁸
DHA is particularly concentrated in the brain and retina, and Omega-3 status has been investigated in relation to brain health and age-related cognitive changes.²,⁶,⁹ The evidence does not support positioning Omega-3 supplementation as a treatment for age-related cognitive disease; the appropriate positioning is nutritional support as part of healthy ageing.
